Golden Apple for Libis

Heart River Elementary School Principal Sherry Libis was not the only one wiping tears from her eyes during a surprise assembly at the Dickinson school Monday morning. The North Dakota Association of Elementary School Principals awarded Libis the Golden Apple Award at a conference in Aberdeen S.D. on Thursday and Heart River teachers and students surprised her with a cake, singing of “For she’s a jolly good principal” and lots of hugs Monday at the school. Libis told the students that everyone worked together to win the award “so you all deserve a pat on the back.” The award is given for meritorious service to the NDAESP and to other principals, students and staff, according to a press release from the association.
