Letter: Siren for tornadoes, not thunderstorms

We had some bad weather in our area Monday.

The sirens went off and everyone went outside to look at the clouds. We all know we are supposed to find shelter, but we did the opposite just like last summer and spring in Stark County. Why would we do that?

Well, somewhere along the line the tornado siren went to a thunderstorm siren or severe weather siren. This system is meant to warn the public of a tornado!

What is going to happen if the sirens go off for a tornado, not a thunderstorm, and people go outside to look?

I am a member of a volunteer fire department and I don’t want to respond to that!

Hopefully this is looked at and fixed.

Thank you for your time.
