Tim Weiss, 53, was shot in the top of his head at his residence Tuesday, Stark County Sheriff Clarence Tuhy said during a press conference at the Law Enforcement Center in Dickinson Wednesday.
Police also shot and killed 55-year-old Keith Newton after he allegedly pointed a handgun at officers at a warehouse on the south edge of Belfield.
Police were pursuing Newton because he allegedly left Weiss's residence just north of Belfield after the shooting and would not stop for officers.
Weiss was released from the hospital and Newton died at the scene, Tuhy said.
Officers involved in the incident are on administrative leave, Tuhy said.
