The ceremony was part of the Southside Survivors Appreciation Picnic, which was organized to remember last year’s July 8 tornado and to thank those who helped after it destroyed a portion of south Dickinson. Food was also provided and the city combined its Arbor Day celebration with the picnic after several trees were destroyed when the tornado struck the city.
