2 area residents killed in crashes

Two area residents were killed in separate vehicle crashes Friday and Saturday, according to North Dakota Highway Patrol press releases.

At about 10:30 p.m. Friday, Edward Quamme, 66, of Hettinger, reportedly lost control of the 1986 Chevrolet truck he was driving on Second Street Northeast approximately 7 miles north of Hettinger.

The vehicle fishtailed on the gravel road, swerved and entered the east ditch and struck a large tree with the front passenger side of the truck.

The passenger, 52-year-old Debra Gay Doerr, was pronounced dead at the scene and Quamme was transported with injuries to the Hettinger Hospital then St. Alexius in Bismarck.

Doerr was reportedly wearing a seatbelt and it is unknown if Quamme was restrained.

At about 6 a.m. Saturday, Hebron resident Timothy Dean White, 45, was reportedly driving his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Highway 10 east of Richardton.

At 83rd Avenue Southwest, Clinton Beau Neidhardt, 41, of Hebron, entered the intersection in a 1997 Ford Taurus, after allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign.

White applied his brakes, leaving a lengthy skid mark, according to the release, but struck the driver’s side door of the Taurus.

Neidhardt, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured and was cited for driving under the influence at the scene.

According to the release, White was not wearing a helmet.

Both crashes remain under investigation, according to the NDHP.
