BISMARCK — The Dickinson Roughriders American Legion baseball team is in a funk after losing to the Bismarck Governors 10-1 on Tuesday at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark.
The Roughriders’ (12-20 overall, 7-10 statewide) have lost three in a row.
Errors cost Dickinson again as three miscues led to half of the Governors’ runs.
“We didn’t play bad defensively, but we had three plays that counted for five unearned runs,” Dickinson coach Andy Emard said.
The teams were tied at 1 after an inning, but Bismarck took the lead after scoring two runs in the second.
Four more runs came for the Governors in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the eighth.
“We had to stay within striking distance,” Emard said.
Bismarck starter James Carroll struck out nine and walked one in seven innings.
Tate Leapaldt and Carson Wentz each went 3-for-5 and drove in a run apiece for the Governors (26-7, 10-2).
For Dickinson, three players — Brett Braunagel, Nick Rohwedder and Jordan Tescher — each went 2-for-4. Braunagel scored the Roughriders’ lone run of the game in the first inning.
Dickinson plays Bismarck in a single nine-inning game again today starting at 5:30 p.m. MDT at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark.
