10-year-old Mustangs win state baseball title
The Dickinson Mustangs 10-year-old baseball team won the Cal Ripken state championship for its age bracket Tuesday and qualified for the Midwest Plains Regional Tournament, which begins July 29 in Boonville, Mo.
GRAND FORKS — The Dickinson Mustangs 10-year-old baseball team won the Cal Ripken state championship for its age bracket Tuesday and qualified for the Midwest Plains Regional Tournament, which begins July 29 in Boonville, Mo.
The Mustangs defeated Mandan 11-4 in the second game of a double-elimination championship series Tuesday. Mandan beat Dickinson 10-4 on Monday to force the second championship game.
En route to its title, Dickinson defeated Wahpeton 11-1, Fargo 17-9, came back from a seven-run deficit to defeat Bismarck 9-8 in extra innings and defeated Mandan 6-0 to reach the championship round.
The Midwest Plains Regional Tournament champion advances to the Cal Ripken World Series.
