Mustang 11-year-olds win state baseball title
The Dickinson Mustangs 11-year-old baseball team won the Cal Ripken state championship for its age bracket Tuesday and qualified for the Midwest Plains Regional Tournament, which begins July 29 in Lyons, Kan.
BISMARCK — The Dickinson Mustangs 11-year-old baseball team won the Cal Ripken state championship for its age bracket Tuesday and qualified for the Midwest Plains Regional Tournament, which begins July 29 in Lyons, Kan.
Dickinson won the title by defeating Grand Forks 8-7 in eight innings Tuesday.
They opened the tournament Friday with a 15-5 win over the Fargo Americans, beat Bismarck 7-3 on Saturday and then defeated Grand Forks 18-2 on Sunday before falling to them 9-1 on Monday, forcing Tuesday’s second championship game.
