MINTO (AP) — A Marine with ties to the northeast North Dakota town of Minto was wounded in Afghanistan. His mother says his injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
1st Lt. Clayton Jarolimek was wounded Monday by an improvised explosive device while on a foot patrol. His mother, Dawn, says the family was told he has a broken jaw, broken bones in his face and some debris in an eye.
The family says that after undergoing surgery at a hospital in Germany, Jarolimek likely will be flown to California. He and his wife live near San Diego.
