FARGO — Dickinson native Landon Smith has been named one of four captains Thursday for the North Dakota State football team after a vote by their teammates.
FARGO — Dickinson native Landon Smith has been named one of four captains Thursday for the North Dakota State football team after a vote by their teammates.
Smith, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound tight end out of Dickinson Trinity has started seven of the 33 games in his career but is listed as the starter on NDSU’s opening-day depth chart.
He has caught nine passes for 56 yards in his career.
Other captains include defensive tackle Matthew Gartzek, strong safety Cyrus Lemon and fullback Lee Vandal, a native of Rolla.
Bohl also announced that tight end Austin Vetter, a former Minot Ryan standout, has left the team for personal reasons.
The Bison open their season on at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4 at Kansas.
