Business is booming in Bowman County. Over the past 18 months, the Small Business Center in Dickinson has helped start four new businesses in Bowman County, bringing the number of clients it serves in Bowman County to 20.
With all the business activity in Bowman the SBDC decided it was time to open a satellite office in Bowman County.
“For the last several months we’ve known this was something we needed to do,” said Ashley Alderson, director of Bowman County Development.
The SBDC decided to establish the satellite office in Bowman because the person hired would work directly with Bowman County development. The SBDC also felt it could better serve their Bowman county clients if they were closer.
Both the SBDC and Bowman County Development had been looking to hire someone part time to assist the clients because it was getting to be too much work for both entities to do alone.
“Ray Ann and I talked and decided we could combine the positions we had in mind and our money to hire someone full time to work in Bowman,” said Alderson.
The person hired is Teran Doerr. She was hired full time the program specialist and business advisor.
“Doerr brings a wealth of knowledge from her previous employment experience and we are thrilled to have her in this new professional role,” said Ray Ann Kilen, SBDC regional director.
Monday was Doerr’s first day.
“I love my new position, it’s going to be a really good fit for me,” said Doerr.
Doerr will be assisting small business clients with getting started, marketing, community projects, and business and accounting needs.
All services offered through the SBDC are free of charge and are referred through the local development office.
“I have had good experiences working with the Small Business Development Center, I am excited that they are opening up the satellite office,” said Julie Kruger, owner of Kruger’s Kitchen in Rhame.
