Letter: Residents invited to learn about South Heart coal project

Dakota Resource Council and Badlands Area Resource Council invite you to attend a presentation on the prospects for the South Heart coal project on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Gate City Bank community room. There is no charge and refreshments will be served.

The presentation will address possible scenarios for the future of the South Heart coal project, including whether a coal conversion project or a merchant mine is more likely, and why.

It will also explain why DRC and BARC have opposed and continue to oppose the project.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to hear an independent viewpoint on the South Heart coal project and take part in the discussion that will follow.

Badlands Area Resource Council, established by Dickinson area residents in 1998, is an affiliate of Dakota Resource Council, which was formed in 1978 by rural residents of western North Dakota who value the protection of resources vital to our rural economy and quality of life.

BARC Chairperson Linda Weiss, Belfield and Mark Trechock, DRC staff director, Dickinson
