Stroh hangs on for 72.5-point ride, finishes out of money in NFR's 3rd round

LAS VEGAS — Dickinson saddle bronc rider Shaun Stroh finished out of the money for the second straight night at the National Finals Rodeo, but hung on long enough to add to his average score.

LAS VEGAS — Dickinson saddle bronc rider Shaun Stroh finished out of the money for the second straight night at the National Finals Rodeo, but hung on long enough to add to his average score.

Stroh had a 72.5 on Blue Sky in Saturday night’s third round. He is now fifth in the average with a total of 240 on three rides.

Cody Wright, riding Spanish Pair on the last ride of the night, had an 88-point ride to edge his brother, Jesse Wright, for the third-round win. Jesse Wright had an 87.5.

Cody Wright leads the average with 256.5 and held onto the world standings lead, which he moved into on Friday .

Berthold native Dane Hanna tied for second in the steer wrestling with a time of 4.20 seconds to pocket $10,544.87.
