Steamlining Dickinson school registration

Each school year, the Dickinson Public School District conducts registration for kindergarten students enrolling in the next school year.
The purpose of early registration is to enable the school district to properly staff and equip the schools for the incoming kindergarten class.
This year kindergarten registration for the 2011-2012 school year is the week of Feb. 7-11.
Previously, all parents wishing to enroll a kindergarten student for the 2011-2012 school year were required to conduct the registration at the Central Administration Office at 444 Fourth St. W.
However, this year the district has taken steps to streamline the process and make it more convenient for parents.
This fall, in an effort to improve our registration process, the school district placed all of the forms necessary for registering a kindergarten student, or new student, on the school district website which is www.dickinson.k12.nd.us.
Parents may access the online forms by opening the online forms link on the left side of the page.
The “parent” link, available in the district area of the page, contains all the necessary forms to register a kindergarten student. The forms required for registering a kindergarten student are the Family Residency Form, Student Registration Form, Language Form and the AlertNow Form.
It is important for parents to complete all areas of each form required for registration. To open these files the user should first make sure that Adobe Reader at www.adobe.com has been downloaded to the computer.
Once the forms are completed online, parents can either save the completed forms to their computer and e-mail them to Sarah Ennis at sarah.ennis@dickinson.k12.nd.us or print the completed forms and mail them or deliver the information to the Central Administration Office.
Parents who e-mail the forms to the Central Administration Office will receive an e-mail response indicating the forms have been received. In either case, all parents are required to come to the Central Administration Office and provide their child’s birth certificate and immunization records to complete the registration process.
All forms are available at this time and parents who choose to register online may register at any time. Parents who choose to register in person at the Central Administration Office need to wait until the registration week of Feb. 7-11.
Please understand that early registration has no bearing on the placement of a child in a building and no preference is given for registering early, nor penalty received for registering in person in February. We encourage parents to consider using our online registration process or to complete these forms prior to visiting the Central Administration Office. This will help to expedite the registration process and, hopefully, be more convenient for parents. As in previous school years, all school placement decisions will be made at the end of April and parents will be notified of the placement by mail.
If you have any problems accessing or completing the online forms please contact the Central Administration staff for assistance.
If you have any questions about this or any other issue related to the Dickinson Public School District, please do not hesitate to contact me.
