Cierra Thompson, Medora, gets on a King Air 200 Tuesday morning at Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport. Thompson was among the winners of the North Dakota Aviation Art Contest. There were three categories and 370 entries and her work took first in a one of the categories so she, along with winners Nikayla Snyder, Hazen, and Payton Schlafman, Bismarck, got a ride in the state airplane typically used to fly Gov. Jack Dalrymple and other leaders. The plane took off from Bismarck, picked Snyder and her guardian up in Hazen and then stopped in Dickinson to get Thompson and her mother Heather Thompson. They then flew to Bismarck for an award ceremony with First Lady Betsy Dalrymple and the winners also got to visit the Heritage Center and Capitol. Also shown is Cierra’s picture. Kellee Martin from Dickinson took third place.
