Century beats Minot for West Region girls title

BISMARCK — Alexis Jacobs had 19 points and 10 rebounds as Bismarck Century won its third consecutive West Region girls basketball tournament championship.

BISMARCK — Alexis Jacobs had 19 points and 10 rebounds as Bismarck Century won its third consecutive West Region girls basketball tournament championship.

The defending Class A state champions earned the West’s top seed in this year’s tournament with a 49-40 victory over Minot High on Saturday night at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Holly Johnson scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds for the Majettes (14-8).

Tessa Delzer added 11 points and Hannah Larson had eight points and eight rebounds for the Patriots (18-4).

State-qualifying games

Jamestown 44, Mandan 39

For the first time since 1990, Mandan will miss the Class A state tournament.

Kyra Dewald had 11 points and four rebounds as Jamestown edged the Braves in a state-qualifying game.

The Blue Jays (11-10) will have the West’s No. 4 seed in the Class A state tournament.

Michaela Longtin had 12 points, four assists and three steals to lead the Braves, who came into the tournament as the No. 1 seed and end their season with a 15-6 record.

Anna Hruby, Rylee Meier and Lexi Hilzendeger combined for 60 points as the Demons earned the West’s No. 3 seed in the Class A state tournament.

Hruby had 23 points and 12 rebounds. Meier added 22 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Hilzendeger added 15 points for Bismarck (15-7).

Sasha Golus had 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Bravettes (13-9).
