2 gymnasts reach USA regional levels

Dickinson gymnasts Acacia Fossum and Shalesa Wariner qualified for the USA Gymnastics Region 8 Levels competition last weekend during USAG’s state meet in Minot.
Fossum, a seventh-grader who won the all-around at the state high school meet, fought off some rough patches and finished with a 34.125 score to qualify as a Level 9. She was second in floor exercise, uneven bars and vault.
Wariner, a junior, qualified as a Level 8. It was her first time competing at a levels meet. She was sixth in the all-around (33.325), but won the vault (8.850).
The two gymnasts will compete at the USA Region 8 levels meet April 15-17 in Des Moines, Iowa.
If Fossum finishes in the top six in her age group, she will advance to the Western Nationals meet, which is in May in San Diego.
Her younger sister, Ayanna Fossum, won the all-around in Level 6 with a 34.425.
TaSheael Rick was second in Level 7 Seniors. Keana Kudrna finished second and Alissa Godlevsky was fifth in Level 7 Juniors.
