Wet spring delaying ND fieldwork even more
FARGO (AP) — The expected average starting date for spring fieldwork in North Dakota has been pushed back nearly a week.

The Agriculture Department now pegs May 5 as the date, six days later than the previous estimate of April 29. An average May 5 start would be 17 days later than last year and 14 days behind the long-term average.
The agency says in its latest crop and weather report that recent rain and snow have added moisture to already saturated fields and calving yards. Flooding is a problem across the state.
The moisture has boosted soil moisture, however. Both topsoil and subsoil moisture are rated adequate to surplus in virtually the entire state.
