BISMARCK — The board of directors for North Dakota's Prairie Rose State Games is dissolving, leaving the future of the games uncertain.

Executive Director Bob King tells KXMB-TV that the state's annual Olympics-style multisport festival has been struggling for a while. During its height it attracted more than 7,000 athletes, but last year only 3,700 participated.

King says that after this year's 25th State Games in Bismarck in July, officials will have to decide what to do. He says one option is having Bismarck continue to host the event that has traveled around to different cities, and hold it every two years. He says the future of the games will depend on community support.
