Big cats switching zoos in the Dakotas
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls will become a temporary home for three Bengal tigers and a snow leopard that are leaving a flood-threatened zoo in Bismarck.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls will become a temporary home for three Bengal tigers and a snow leopard that are leaving a flood-threatened zoo in Bismarck.
Dakota Zoo in Bismarck is closed and moving its animals to other zoos because of rising levels of the Missouri River.
The president of Great Plains Zoo said the big cats would arrive Friday and would not be on public display. Elizabeth Whealy said the zoo currently has eight Amur tigers and two snow leopards that are on display.
