Class A girls use balance to top Class B

BISMARCK — Balance won the day for the Class A All-Stars during the first game of the North Dakota Lions All-Star girls basketball series.

Four players scored in double figures and all 12 players scored for the Class A team as they rolled to a 90-71 victory over the Class B All-Stars on Tuesday night at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Fargo Shanley’s Sophie Kenney scored a team-high 15 points while Miss Basketball winner Caitlin Farroh of Grand Forks Central added 12 points and a team-high six rebounds. Anna Hruby of Bismarck High had 12 points while Alyssa Dehne of Fargo North scored 10.

Sasha Golus of Belcourt and Hannah Elshaug of Grand Forks Red River chipped in eight points each.

Shauna Long of Standing Rock led Class B with 16 points, shooting 6 of 13 from the field. Harvey-Wells County’s Maggie Lorenz scord 15 points on 7 of 9 shooting.

Beach’s Brittney Dietz added six points and two assists. Beach’s Abby Weinreis scored two points and Dickinson Trinity’s Mackenzie Glasser did not score.

Class A led 45-38 at halftime.

While the final score wasn’t exactly close, Class B kept up with Class A in most statistical categories. The teams were even on the boards with 39 a piece.

The teams wrap up their two-game series at 5 p.m. MDT today at the Fargo Civic Auditorium.
