Highway 22 won’t reopen this week due to another landslide, the North Dakota Department of Transportation announced this morning.
The road had been closed since May, when a landslide left it dangerous and impassable.
Crews have been working to construct a temporary bypass 18 miles north of Killdeer.
The temporary bypass was expected to be complete this week, but due to the additional landslide Monday evening, the opening has been delayed.
During construction, wet conditions caused the embankment to shift (near mile marker 125), resulting in further damage.
The DOT is evaluating the situation and working to develop a plan. More information will be released as soon as it becomes available, according to the DOT.
