Police have not apprehended 41-year-old Dirk Huber for his alleged involvement in a Tuesday evening homicide in Belfield, law enforcement said after a press conference at the Dickinson Law Enforcement Center this evening.
“We do not suspect this is an accidental death. Charges and warrants are being sought for a charge of murder,” Belfield Police Department Chief Joseph Schmidt read from a prepared statement at the conference.
There is police tape at the victim, Nicole Radebaugh’s, door. The 39-year-old’s mother, Ruth Radebaugh, told The Press this evening that Nicole’s daughter, Logan Huber, is safe.
Police would not release any other details or answer questions at the press conference.
Belfield Public School was on lock-down this morning because of the incident, Superintendent Darrel A. Remington said.
Sheriff Clarence Tuhy told The Press this morning that the Stark County Sheriff’s Department is assisting the Belfield police in the investigation but would not elaborate.
North Dakota Highway Patrol Sgt. Dan Haugen said troopers were called out at about 10:30 Tuesday night to watch for a possible vehicle involved.
