Belfield Public School has new playground equipment this year that is designed for exercise and play, Belfield Grade School Principal Marie Lorge said.
“What’s great about the equipment is children can get exercise and have fun at the same time,” Lorge said. “It’s a great way for them to stay fit.”
While the school district paid some of the cost, money also came from fundraising, Business Manager Alice Berger said.
“The elementary does fundraising,” Berger said. “They have a few different projects they do for sales like candle and Christmas sales.”
The new playground features a mini rock-climbing wall, spring riders and cyclone spinner.
“It gets the kids moving,” Berger said. “With the new twist equipment, they have to use their bodies to make it move.”
Michelle Bechtol, Belfield’s third-grade teacher, said the addition to the playground is exciting and gives everyone something to do.
“There are more opportunities to stay busy,” Bechtol said. “I think they have been getting along better since it’s been out there.”
The students said they love playing on it. Third-grader Carllee Hutzenbeler said it was fun.
“I think it’s awesome,” Hutzenbeler said. “I love to play on it.”
