DHS boys win as Kutka takes 2nd; girls also take 2nd

GLENDIVE, Mont. — The Dickinson cross country teams grabbed first and second place at the Coca-Cola Glendive Invitational on Tuesday. “It was a good day for the boys and girls,” Dickinson coach Shawn Leiss said.

GLENDIVE, Mont. — The Dickinson cross country teams grabbed first and second place at the Coca-Cola Glendive Invitational on Tuesday.

“It was a good day for the boys and girls,” Dickinson coach Shawn Leiss said.

The boys’ team posted 39 points for a first-place team finish, its first win of the season. Dickinson’s top five runners placed in the top 15, with Vladimir Kutka leading the way with a second-place time of 16 minutes, 41 seconds.

Following Kutka was Jackson Binstock in fifth (16:58), Joseph Sickler in ninth (18:10) followed by Gabe Dschaak in 10th (18:18). Rounding out the final place for the Midgets was Paul Gardner in 13th place.

On the girls’ side, the Midgets placed second with 38 points trailing host Dawson County, Mont., by just one point. Dickinson had its top four runners place in the top 10.

Meliah Leiss led the Midgets in third (20:22), followed by Kelli Pavlicek in fifth, Morgan Kuntz in seventh and Emily Tyrell in ninth.

The final Dickinson runner on the girls’ side was Katie Pavlicek in 14th place.
