Deibert, Midgets defeat Mandan

MANDAN — The Dickinson High volleyball team dropped an early set, but rattled off three straight wins to defeat Mandan 20-25, 25-13, 25-11, 25-19 in a West Region match Tuesday.

“We didn’t really have our heads in the game right off the get go,” Dickinson head coach Jay Schobinger said. “Then we came in set two, really established early and got on a roll from there.”

Madison Deibert powered the Midgets’ offense with 16 kills. She also had 13 digs and three aces.

“She did a nice job,” Schobinger said. “If you ask her, she wasn’t really satisfied with how she did offensively.”

Dickinson’s middle hitters got into the mix, too, as Rachel Schroeder tallied nine kills and Leslie Beaudoin had seven.

Ali Moody came away with 36 assists and nine digs.

For the Braves (8-3, 4-1 West), Elizabeth Meyer blasted 13 kills while Kalli Tveito added six kills.

Dickinson (6-4, 2-1 West) hosts Minot High on at 7 p.m. Thursday.

“We are kind of being tests in different ways all the time,” Schobinger said. “We’ve had the flu bug going around, so we had some kids playing in different spots.

“There is just a variety of things that are preparing us for the season.”
