Letter: Tired of bought-and-sold politicians

What a beautiful morning in western North Dakota! Fall is in the air, the radio just said cattle prices are at an all time high, more jobs than workers here, the crops turned out wonderful, and I could go on and on. We are so blessed.

But open our papers, turn on the news, or talk to people; western North Dakota is the exception to the rule. North Dakota cannot save the people of our great nation. We don’t have the room, and our state and way of living is not for everyone.

If you listen to some of the economists, the USA is one step away from the situation Greece is currently in. Things are that dire. If things are that grim, why not support the president and the jobs plan? There is nowhere to go but up. Let’s put people to work in their home states on projects that will not only give them employment, but get projects accomplished in their own states! People who are making money will be able to spend money.

I’m really tired of politicians who are bought and sold by the dollars controlling them. I’m really tired of it being either Democratic Party or Republican Party. Whatever happened to doing what is best for us? Us: the people who elect these people, the country as a whole, the poorest of us as well as the richest of us, US — the USA.

Sen. Conrad, Sen. Hoven and Rep. Berg: Yes, North Dakota is an exceptional state, but now is not the time to worry about North Dakota. We’re making it just fine. Keep protecting our interests, but please look at the rest of the states and people. Our country needs action now! Let’s all support the president’s jobs plan to help this great nation.

US — we the people — need to contact our elected officials and ask that they represent our opinions. Please be people representatives, not party tools.
