Official: DSU enrollment figures off more than thought; high school students incorrectly listed as enrolled

Dickinson State University’s 2010 enrollment numbers were inflated even more than originally anticipated, a North Dakota University System official told The Dickinson Press today.

Dickinson State University’s 2010 enrollment numbers were inflated even more than originally anticipated, a North Dakota University System official told The Dickinson Press today.

Though NDUS originally reported 180 students were incorrectly enrolled at DSU, that number now stands at about 213, NDUS Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs Michel Hillman said Wednesday.

About 30 high school students were incorrectly listed as enrolled, Hillman said.

An audit report released earlier in the year alleges DSU President Richard McCallum had a key role in inflating the university’s enrollment numbers in the fall of 2010.

The Board of Higher Education is attempting to fire McCallum, but he will challenge his dismissal. He has a hearing Oct. 19 in Bismarck.

See Thursday’s Dickinson Press for more on the story.
