The Dickinson Public Schools has implemented an emergency call system that will help notify parents about school and weather emergencies and selected school events.
The system, “Alert Now,” is being provided free to all parents who provide contact information during registration. Alert Now establishes the emergency calling system by extracting the phone number provided at registration that the district maintains in its database.
When the Alert Now system is activated:
- Caller ID will display the Central Office’s main phone number (701-456-0002) when a general announcement is delivered.
- Alert Now will leave a message on any answering machine or voice mail.
- If the Alert Now message stops playing, press “1” and the message will replay from the beginning.
Alert Now will also be establishing a list of emergency email contacts by utilizing the email address that was provided at registration and those listed in the district’s database. A parent portal is being reviewed that would enable parents to add additional phone numbers and email addresses. Parents will be able to access this portal from a home computer.
It is the hope of the school district that parents will find the system to be convenient and useful when it is necessary to make an emergency contact.
If you have any questions on this topic or any other school district issue, or if I can be of assistance during the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me at 701-456-0002.
