Steffan earns MWC player of the week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Dickinson native Katelyn Steffan had a career weekend on the volleyball court, and in result, was honored as the Mountain West Conference’s co-Player of the Week award Monday.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Dickinson native Katelyn Steffan had a career weekend on the volleyball court, and in result, was honored as the Mountain West Conference’s co-Player of the Week award Monday.
Steffan, a 6-4 senior at Colorado State and a Dickinson High School graduate, led the Rams to a pair of wins over UNLV and San Diego State.
Steffan shattered a career high with 28 kills against UNLV on Thursday during a 3-2 victory in Las Vegas. She also had two blocks, five digs and an assist in the match.
She followed that up with 18 kills and five blocks in a 3-1 win at San Diego State on Sunday. Steffan added three assists, two aces and six digs.
“Kate was the sole reason we won the match,” Colorado State head coach Tom Hilbert said after CSU's win against UNLV. “That was the best I’ve ever seen her play.”
Steffan shared this week’s honor with New Mexico senior Ashley Rhoades.
