The new owners of the Bismarck-based Dakota Wizards are using today's event to show their commitment to the community.
The Golden State Warriors bought the Wizards earlier this year. The Warriors are sending top officials to Bismarck tonight, including co-owner Joe Lacob and West, who was hired as an advisor in May.
The Warriors exhibition game against Utah planned for the Bismarck Civic Center on Oct. 25 has been scrapped along with the rest of the NBA preseason due to labor problems. But Wizards President Jim Weyermann says the Warriors plan other events to strengthen the connection with Bismarck, including a season-opening fanfest.
