Schaper earns honors, leads Cowboys to fifth place

NEW TOWN — Killdeer’s Skye Schaper earned one of three Class B, West Region senior athlete of the year honors at the region’s cross country meet Saturday.

Schaper placed 18th with a time of 17 minutes, 25 seconds and helped the Cowboys to a fifth-place finish.

On the boys’ side, Beulah-Hazen finished second behind host New Town. Bowman County followed in third.

Michael Palczewski of Bowman County ran an 18:17, which was good enough for fourth.
