Dickinson native Katelyn Steffan was named the Mountain West Conference’s volleyball Player of the Year on Monday night.
Steffan, a 6-foot-4 senior outside hitter, led the Rams to their third consecutive Mountain West title this season.
She finished the regular season second in the league in points (4.4) and kills (3.7) per set while tallying double figures in kills in 18 of the Rams’ 24 matches.
Steffan, a 2007 graduate of Dickinson High School, finished the regular season with 303 kills and 72 blocks.
Colorado State nearly swept the individual awards, with freshman setter Deedra Foss being named the conference’s Newcomer of the Year and Tom Hilbert earning Coach of the Year honors.
The Rams are the No. 1 seed in the Mountain West Conference tournament and play No. 8 seed Air Force at 6 p.m. today in the quarterfinals in Albuquerque, N.M.
