JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — Authorities have recovered the body of man who fell through the ice while fishing on the Jamestown Reservoir more than a week ago.

The Jamestown Sun reports that authorities were able to locate the body of 49-year-old Darrin Ackermann of Jamestown around 10 a.m. today using a remote-operated vehicle with sonar.

Authorities had been searching for Ackermann since Dec. 3, when he failed to return home after an ice fishing excursion.

Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser says the body was found closer to the shore than officials had anticipated.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
