Dickinson High boys get defensive, beat Dawson County

GLENDIVE, Mont. — By no means is the Dickinson High boys basketball team an offensive juggernaut. But that doesn’t mean it can’t play defense.

GLENDIVE, Mont. — By no means is the Dickinson High boys basketball team an offensive juggernaut. But that doesn’t mean it can’t play defense.

The Midgets stifled Dawson County (Mont.) offensively and got 15 points from junior Jordan Krieg en route to a 38-28 victory on Thursday.

“It was a great defensive effort from us,” Dickinson head coach John Wilson said. “Our offense definitely has room to improve. I was really proud of our defense. I thought we played real well.”

Austin Fournier added 11 points to back up Krieg, who was 7 of 10 from the field. Wilson wants to see him get more touches inside.

“It’s one thing we’ve got to improve on,” Wilson said. “Jordan did real good to get shots and get open. I was disappointed in our ability to get the ball in the post. When we’ve got a kid who works that hard, we’ve got to get them the ball.”

Dickinson (2-1) led 18-14 at halftime despite trailing 8-2 early. The Midgets visit Minot on Saturday.

Tanner Schwartz led the Red Devils with seven points.
