MISSOULA, Mont. — Two University of Montana football players who were hit with stun guns by police trying to break up a loud party have entered no contest pleas to disorderly conduct.
Backup quarterback Gerald Kemp and cornerback Trumaine Johnson offered their pleas through their attorney, Darla Keck. They did not attend the Municipal Court hearing in Missoula Tuesday morning.
In exchange, the city dropped misdemeanor charges of assault, resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.
Kemp and Johnson were arrested after police were called to a party at Johnson’s apartment early on Oct. 23. Both men were eventually shocked with a stun gun in what Keck said was an excessive use of force.
The city has reviewed the officers’ stun gun use and a report is expected to be released Wednesday.
