Bismarck trounces Dickinson in dual

BISMARCK — The Dickinson High wrestling team had a tough finish before the Christmas break.

The Midgets fell to Bismarck High 63-10 in a West Region dual on Tuesday.

“I think we had a lot of other things on our mind instead of going in and having a shot at Bismarck High,” Dickinson head coach Bruce Heppner said. “Bismarck High is one of the top teams in the state. We have to go in there and give ourselves some opportunities to win some matches. I just don’t think we were prepared to do that today.”

Dickinson’s two winners were senior Alec Lindsey, who had a pin over Tate Hoffman at 138 pounds, and sophomore Devin Berger, who defeated Lane Kaseman at 120 with an 11-0 major decision.

“Between Devin and Alec, you can see it in their eyes when they wrestling that they are working toward something,” Heppner said. “When they go out there and wrestling they are laying it all out on the line.”

Dickinson next hosts Belcourt on Dec. 30.

“We just have to take a couple steps back and get some guys healed up,” Heppner said. “We’ve got to watch some film to see what we need to work on and what is working.”
