North Star takes over at No. 1, bumps Beulah to No. 4

North Star’s 25-point victory over Beulah was enough to convince the state’s media that it deserved the No. 1 ranking in the Class B boys basketball poll.

North Star’s 25-point victory over Beulah was enough to convince the state’s media that it deserved the No. 1 ranking in the Class B boys basketball poll.

The Bearcats (8-0) earned all 10 first-place votes as it knocked Beulah (7-1) out of the top spot and to No. 4. It was the 35th consecutive victory for the defending state champions.

Undefeated Dickinson Trinity, meanwhile, leapt another two spots to No. 6, its highest ranking of the season. The Titans are 8-0 and host Glen Ullin-Hebron at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Hazen (8-0) received votes in the poll.

Carrington received all 10 first-place votes in the Class B girls basketball poll to retain its No. 1 ranking.

Grant County (5-0) and Beach (3-1) each dropped one spot to No. 5 and No. 10, respectively.

The polls are voted on by members of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
