FORT YATES — Nikki and Kaitlyn Grinsteinner got the Dickinson Trinity girls basketball team off to a great start Monday against Standing Rock.

However, the Warriors contained the sisters in the second half and rallied for a 64-61 non-region victory.

Kaitlyn Grinsteinner had a game-high 22 points while Nikki Grinsteinner added 16 points and nine rebounds for the Titans (1-4).

“Both of the Grinsteinner girls came out in the first half and really got us going,” Trinity head coach Alysia Barman said. “We need Nikki to touch the ball and we need the ball in her hands as much as possible. That didn’t happen as much in the second half.”

The Warriors shot 65 percent from the field as they battled back from a 43-27 halftime deficit.

Jaimie Archambault had 11 points and 10 rebounds while Jaylee Four Swords led Standing Rock with 17 points. Ryane Wolf Necklace added 15 points and Ashlynn Sandland had 12.

“Some of their little runs, we need to be able to withstand those,” Barman said. “We started playing not to lose instead of just playing. I think that was the biggest thing in the second half.”

Note: Quarter scoring was unavailable.
