The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Rachel Mikulich, of Escondido, Calif., was heading west on Interstate 94 about 3 miles east of Dickinson before 8 p.m. Friday. Her truck slid across the median into the eastbound lanes and hit the tractor trailer, and she was thrown from the pickup. Mikulich was taken to a nearby hospital but died.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 39-year-old Jose Cruz of Moses Lake, Wash., was not injured.
