The Hettinger-Scranton boys basketball team has postponed Tuesday’s scheduled game against Heart River in the aftermath of a Friday bus accident that left several of its players and staff members injured.

Night Hawks head coach Adam Hill said the team has moved their game against Heart River to Saturday, Jan. 28. It will be in Scranton with a 5:30 p.m. start for the junior varsity game, with the varsity game to follow at approximately 7 p.m.

Hill said he will meet with his team and their parents Tuesday to determine if the Night Hawks must postpone any other games.

“We’re going to assess tomorrow when we meet with all the players,” Hill said. “I’ve kind of got to get a head count of who’s in and who’s OK.”

Thirty-two people, including 28 students, were taken to area hospitals Friday for a multitude of injuries after the team’s bus went off Highway 21 three miles east of New England.

Some members of the team, including assistant coach Jeremy Dietchman, had serious injuries. Dietchman was sent to St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson following the accident and was still there as of Monday, Hill said.
