SOUTH HEART — Jesse Kubik sat out three games with a concussion earlier this month and has been a big factor for the Dickinson Trinity boys basketball team since his return.
The 6-foot-7 junior center scored 18 points and put back a missed shot with four seconds left to give Dickinson Trinity a 49-48 victory over Region 7 rival Heart River on Friday night at the South Heart High School gymnasium.
Jacob Volk added 11 points and Isiah Binstock, who missed the shot Kubik put back, had 10 points and 13 rebounds to lead the No. 7-ranked Titans (14-1).
Trinity head coach Gregg Grinsteinner said his team owed a lot to Kubik and Binstock, a 6-foot-2 junior forward.
“Those guys really did a nice job inside,” Grinsteinner said. “We got some nice perimeter looks and couldn’t finish.”
Jarek Haverluk and Jordan Strecker each had 11 points to lead Heart River. Strecker grabbed eight rebounds. Dylan Northrup added 10 points and five assists.
It was the second consecutive fourth-quarter rally for a win by Trinity. They came back to defeat Hazen on Tuesday.
The Titans visit Center-Stanton at 4 p.m. today.
