No. 10 Jimmies rally to beat DSU

VALLEY CITY — Jamestown College rallied in the second half to avoid an upset attempt by Dickinson State on Saturday in the Dakota Athletic Conference Tipoff Tournament at Osman Fieldhouse.

Byron Jones hit three 3-pointers to score a team-high 15 points as the No. 10-ranked Jimmies overcame a four-point halftime deficit to defeat the Blue Hawks 60-55.

DSU senior Tevin Hurd scored a game-high 19 points in the loss. Matt Lee, who came off the bench, added 11 points.

The Blue Hawks shot 18 of 53 (34 percent) from the field while the Jimmies were 17 of 51 (33 percent). Jamestown, however, was 22 of 26 (85 percent) from the free-throw line.

Travis Burley had 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the Jimmies (18-4, 1-0 DAC). Drew Preiner had 11 points, including a late 3-pointer that put Jamestown ahead late.

The Blue Hawks (8-13, 0-1 DAC) play Valley City State at 1 p.m. today in the consolation game of the four-team tournament. Jamestown takes on Mayville State for the championship at 5 p.m.
