Montana body ID'd

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Authorities said Wednesday they were investigating whether foul play was involved in the death of a North Dakota oil field worker whose body was found last week along Montana’s Hi-Line.

Roosevelt County Sheriff Freedom Crawford identified the man as Brian Doyle, 49, of Florida. Doyle’s hometown was not released.

Crawford said that until about two weeks ago, Doyle was working for an oil field maintenance company in North Dakota, where an oil boom in recent years has attracted workers from across the country.

His body was found Friday in a ditch along U.S. Highway 2 near Bainville, Mont., a small community near the North Dakota border.

An autopsy has been completed, but Crawford declined to release a cause of death, citing the investigation.

An FBI spokeswoman said there is no connection between Doyle’s death and the alleged kidnapping earlier this month of Sidney, Mont., math teacher Sherry Arnold, who remains missing, but is presumed dead.

Authorities have set up a website for any tips or information on Doyle’s death. Information also can be reported to Crime Stoppers in Roosevelt County at 406-653-2811.
