Letter: Demand more protection for 4-legged friends
Let us stick to the subject at hand and that is animal cruelty in North Dakota is on the rise.
Grossly deficient laws have created an unfortunate scenario for animals in our state. Regardless of what Marlene Kouba seems to believe the fact is, “our laws lack any protection for animals.”
Strengthening our laws will only result in better protection for people and animals. It will result in just one more tool for law enforcement to use while out in the field. If people are cruel to their animals it is highly likely that they are also cruel to their children or spouse/significant other.
Regardless of what anyone thinks about any organization, the facts are very clear here. North Dakota’s laws grossly lack protection. The legislative attempts have failed twice.
I believe it is time for this wrong to be corrected and for North Dakotans to step up to the plate and demand more penalties and protection for our four-legged friends.
