Trinity, Beulah boys hold fast in poll; Beach girls fall out

Dickinson Trinity and Beulah’s boys basketball teams held onto their respective spots in the Class B media poll Monday.

However, the Beach girls basketball team fell out of the rankings for the first time this season as the girls poll saw some major shakeups.

Trinity (16-0) and Beulah (13-3) remain Nos. 6 and 8 while Hazen (13-3) received votes.

North Star (16-0) remained the unanimous No. 1 boys team, followed by a trio of 17-0 teams — Berthold, LaMoure and Central Cass. Grafton (15-1) rounded out the top five.

Carrington returned to the No. 1 spot in the girls poll two weeks after being outsted by Central Cass.

Central Cass (12-1) dropped to No. 3 after losing to Kindred (14-0) last week. Kindred jumped from No. 6 to No. 2 after the win and was one voting point short of tying Carrington for the No. 1 ranking.

All three teams received first-place votes while No. 5 New Town (14-0) also received one.

Grant County (13-1) held on to its spot at No. 8.

The polls are voted on by members of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
