WILLISTON — The Williston girls hockey team pounced to a early lead and never looked back.

After scoring five goals in the first period, the Coyotes went on to defeat Dickinson 8-0 on Friday.

“I think we got off to a rough start,” Dickinson head coach Lauren Hansen said. “We just kind of in the second and third just regrouped and played much better.”

The Midgets were able to forget about the sluggish start and allowed three goals in the remaining two periods.

Williston’s top scorer was Jocci Walz, who came into the game with 15 goals on the season, netted a hat trick. Kayla Buck supplied a goal and three assists.

Dickinson’s two goalies each saw action as LeAnne Brydl stopped 29 shots on goal, while Breanna Chamberlain gloved 33.

The Midgets were able to get 16 shots on goal against the Coyotes goalie Kaytlynn Morgan.

“I was extremely happy with how the girls got some offensive play going,” Hansen said. “It was good to see us get some control of the puck and get some opportunities in the offensive zone.”
