BISMARCK — Naomi Russ dominated inside and helped the Bismarck High girls basketball team pick up a West Region victory over Dickinson High on Thursday night.
Russ had 20 points and 13 rebounds as the Demons won 63-50 at Karlgaard Gymnasium.
“We battled,” Dickinson head coach Dan Pender said. “There’s no question, we battled. We played hard but we just dug ourselves a hole again.”
Bismarck led 32-22 at halftime as Dickinson shot 22 of 66 (33 percent) from the field and sent the Demons to the line early and often.
“Then they came out and just kind of took it to us right away,” Pender said.
Bismarck (8-6, 7-5 West) shot 23 of 31 from the free-throw line.
Leslie Beaudoin had team highs of 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead the Midgets (4-11, 3-10 West). Rachel Schroeder added 10 points.
