BISMARCK (AP) — The chancellor of North Dakota's university system says Dickinson State University's practice of giving degrees to foreign students who didn't earn them is not widespread.
BISMARCK (AP) — The chancellor of North Dakota's university system says Dickinson State University's practice of giving degrees to foreign students who didn't earn them is not widespread.
William Goetz says the problem was limited almost exclusively to students from China who attended Dickinson State.
An audit says in the last eight years, 400 of 410 foreign students who have gotten diplomas at Dickinson State didn't finish their degree work.
Goetz says the problems don't apply to every Dickinson State student, or to students in other colleges in North Dakota's university system.
Goetz says former Dickinson State vice president for academic affairs Richard Brauhn has agreed to take the job again after Jon Brudvig resigned.
University student registrar Marshall Melbye has retired, and administrator Steve Glasser has resigned.
