SIDNEY, Mont. (AP) — A Montana judge has set a Feb. 28 court appearance for two men suspected in the disappearance of a high school math teacher who's believed to be dead.
Forty-seven-year-old Lester Van Waters Jr. and 22-year-old Michael Keith Spell appeared in a brief hearing in Sidney city court. It was their second hearing of the day following extradition proceedings earlier in Williston, a North Dakota city not far across the border.
Both men are charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping in the death of 43-year-old Sherry Arnold, who was last seen leaving home for a run Jan. 7.
They did not speak before city Judge Gregory Mohr except to confirm their identities.
Bond remained at $2.5 million each, with the men held in Richland County jail.
